I live in La Verne and love it!! It's a very nice, family oriented town. Contrary to what reviewers below said, it's not about religion, it's about a nice, clean, relatively crime free area to raise a family. Not that there's anything wrong with the "big city," but living in La Verne is the best of both worlds...I had a wonderful city to raise my child in and I am only 30 mins. away from downtown L.A. when I need a city fix!!
Yup, just a terrible place, no tattoo parlors, pot stores, needles in the gutter, derelicts panhandling downtown, running gun battles in the hood. Where's the vibrant, diversity? Just family folks jogging, walking dogs, hiking in the mountains, going to school, working hard being productive. And that stinking wildlife, deer and bear, hawks and eagles. Clearly, this place is nothing like the big city and you should stay away if your life is all about asphalt.
Yep, I agree, with Mark. La Verne is a little too conservative for my taste.
La Verne is a beautiful town, small, and very suburban. Much of it built in the 80's. La Verne has all the conveniences you would need and is very family oriented. Not much to do for a young adult, and the University is tiny and nowhere near lively. Feels very conservative and religious. Beautiful scenery being near the foothills. By the way, check out Claremont. That's a real town!
