Great atmosphere for young families. Close proximity to the Gold Line and Downtown L.A. Great ethnic diversity. I suppose the only complaint would be lack of affordable housing. We are all not speculative dwellers, some people still simply want an affordable house for shelter!
I was born and raised in South Pas and spent the first 20 years of my life in this town. My Mom, an Irish immigrant, arrived in South Pas in 1916, and my Dad, a native of Kentucky, arrived in 1927. It was a great life for my family to spend all those years in South Pas.
One word: Community
South Pasadena is a tightly knit community where residents know and look out for each other, and care passionately about their city. This leads to great schools, an abundance of local activities, relatively low crime, and an ongoing lively debate about local issues.
South Pasadena is about one thing: kids kids kids. Ok, that's three. One of the best public school systems in the country. Every extracurricular activity for kids known to man, from theater to sewing to math to every single sport imaginable.

Small town feel in an urban setting. 10min drive to downtown. MTA Gold Link works great to get to downtown destinations.
South Pasadena is a great place to raise a family. The schools are excellent.
