Pros: Great neighborhoods, restaurants, beaches
Cons: Elitist citizens who are not welcoming to "outsiders"
Pros: Great city management, schools, dining, neighborhoods, hospitals, shopping, weather.
Cons: Some seedy areas to the east and north. Best closer to the beach.
Safe neighborhood. Cons: needs a better downtown area
The Police and Fire Department make Torrance a great place to live. They keep the residents safe from "outsiders", which in turn improves the schools and businesses in the City.
Unlike the neighboring beach cities and P.V., which are primarily bedroom communities, Torrance is a "mixed use" community with refineries, warehouses, hotels, corporate headquarters, business parks, malls, etc. Drawing on this diverse tax base is what enables the schools and other civic services to be as good as they are.
Pros: Close to the ocean, several hospitals, good restaurants, excellent police and fire department, great schools, and perfect Southern California Weather.
Cons: Not so good neighboring cities.
Pros: Safe area with good schools
Cons: Surrounded by ghetto areas on the north and east sides.
