L.A.'s Eastside: Where do you draw the line?

“ This is the East side because it is where the Spanish/Mexican Americans use as their home, playground, and canvas for their culture. Expect to see car culture, food, storefronts, and homes reflecting the movement of a generation in the 60's and a second/third generation growing up within the same geographic region. Maywood and Bell can certainly be included too, as they served as home to migrants from Texas and Mexico alike filling the factories of Los Angeles and Vernon when industry was in swing. The borders should also reflect a history of the Los Angeles River perseptions as a natural East reference point. In combination the river and a culture define the East side. ” — Travis Andrews from Whittier, Feb. 18, 2014, 7:46 a.m.
