L.A.'s Eastside: Where do you draw the line?

“ I define the eastside and East LA differently. The eastside (lowercase e) is a more youthful, less suburban, seemingly gentrified area. I include Hollywood in that (does anyone remember what Hollywood was like 15 years ago??). I had to move to the westside, though I joke with my friends that the eastside is more of a state of mind than anything. East LA would be the neighborhood you see east of the river. I spent a lot of time over there going to ELAC. It's more of a family, suburban neighborhood, and thus different to me than the "eastside." ” — Ellyn from Westwood, but formally lived in Los Feliz/East Hollywood, Feb. 19, 2014, 1:53 p.m.
