L.A.'s Eastside: Where do you draw the line?

“ I grew up east of East L.A. in Pico Rivera. No one that I knew ever questioned the view that ELA was the part of the city east of then downtown LA which was just across the the LA River. More specifically, ELA was the unincorporated area between Montebello and the city proper, a sort of no man's land politically impotent, patrolled by the infamous sheriff department. ” — Maria Ramirez from Chatsworth, CA, Feb. 20, 2014, 12:12 p.m.
